Will They Kill Her?
Social Conservative Christians are living in moral fear as they are dealing with the prospect of a future Hillary Clinton as President of the United States of America. They see her as the path to social decline of the nation. The conservatives are trying to do whatever it takes to make sure Hillary does not become the President of America.
How far will the right wing go - will they attempt assassination?
At the same time, social conservatives are violently opposed to the possibility of Benazir Bhutto becoming the leader of their country. In Pakistan, the conservative religious right has made their position clear. Just like in the USA, where the conservatives don't want a Clinton back, Pakistani conservatives don't want their country run by a liberal woman again. The
main difference is that the political situation in Pakistan is not so stable and the concept of taking out the candidate is not as foreign or even unacceptable as we in the US might think. There is always talk in the US that people may not be ready for the big changes that are coming. Hillary Clinton could be the first woman president. That could lead to someone acting out, or even an assassination attempt. Barack Obama is also making a big change in this country as the possible first black or African-American President of the United States.
Have there been threats to his security?
Well, we have already seen that Obama was assigned a US secret service detail early on in his campaign. That was not for show, it was because of possible attacks upon his life. The conservatives in America are willing to do whatever it takes to stop Hillary, even to go against their religious and social beliefs regarding Life. They are willing to overlook the positions of Rudy Giuliani because they believe he might be able to defeat Clinton.
Is that the correct moral position to take?
The same can be said of Pakistan. The Islamic religious Right Wing is willing to overlook the Life issue. Just as we see here in America that religious extremists will go to an abortion clinic to blow it up because they support the life issue, in Pakistan the same is true. They have ignored the true meaning of Islam by thinking it is necessary to kill Benezir Bhutto because having her in office will lead to the moral death of the country and start citizens down the path of heathen decay. Better to kill her than to let the whole country be eternally damned! Not exactly logical or religiously correct, but then logic does not always coincide with belief. It makes you wonder why the religious right in the US is so focused on the threat of radical Islam. The idea that radical Islam is a threat to the US is such a false premise; it is ridiculous, especially since the moral position on issues are shared by both groups. Islam and the right wing have a lot in common -- family values, marriage, fiscal responsibility, being against the homosexual agenda--all of these issues are shared globally by Muslims and the Christians.
Right. When Muslims act out violently and decide to make an assassination attempt or use terrorism, the mainstream says they have gone too far on the right, just like when the Christian right blows up an abortion clinic. I agree that late term abortion is definately murder, but so is killing people in a clinic. You cannot win the moral high ground with terrorism. To be the party of truth and moral right, you must act righteously! This is why Christian leaders are maintaining that you cannot gain the right path by choosing the lesser of two evils. Rudy Giuliani cannot be the representative for the religious right, even if he is the only one who can beat Hillary Clinton. If the Christian Right decides to back the lesser of two evils...then evil has still prevailed. That is unacceptable. It is better to lose an election and keep the moral high ground.
Now tell me what you think...does the Christian right and the Muslim right sound alike to you?
